GAZA CITY / WASHINGTON – On Day 671 of Israel’s war on Gaza, the Netanyahu government edges closer to the unthinkable: an absolute occupation of all Palestinian territory under the guise of security and humanitarian relief. But even as Israeli tanks inch deeper into Gaza, Palestinian resistance continues to defy the occupier militarily, politically, and symbolically.
Meanwhile, starvation spreads, children are dying from malnutrition, and families are pushed to the brink—while Israel stages carefully choreographed optics, psychological operations (psyops), and theatrics to justify its territorial ambitions and mask a policy of mass displacement, erasure, and control.
Children Starve Under A System Engineered For Spectacle, Not Relief:
Since October 7, 2023, Israel’s military assault on Gaza has killed over 100,000 Palestinians and injured more than 377,000, according to Gaza’s Ministry of Health. At least 20,000 children have been killed, with thousands more facing fatal levels of malnutrition.
Despite international outcry, Israel has imposed a militarised aid regime that operates more like a psyop than a humanitarian operation. At the centre of this is the Gaza Humanitarian Foundation (GHF), a distribution mechanism designed not to relieve suffering, but to control it. GHF sites have become war zones, where unregistered, desperate civilians scramble for dry food packages, often under Israeli sniper fire. 766 aid seekers have been killed, according to the UN.
Aid convoys are looted by starving crowds or targeted by Israeli gunfire. The UN itself admits that it cannot safely deliver the majority of its supplies, and yet Israel continues to fault humanitarian agencies while weaponising hunger as a tool of war in its larger strategy of forced displacement and societal breakdown.
Netanyahu’s Absolute Occupation Plan And The Politics Of Theatre:
What Netanyahu presents as a strategy to “defeat Hamas” is, in reality, a blueprint for absolute occupation of all Occupied Palestinian Territory (OPT), Gaza, East Jerusalem, and the West Bank, including. Under pressure from far-right coalition partners, including Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich, Netanyahu now proposes incremental annexation beginning with Gaza’s buffer zones, then its north, and eventually the entire Strip.
Netanyahu told ministers this plan has the blessing of the Trump administration, and it is being pitched as a condition: Hamas has “a few days” to surrender before Israel begins annexing. The true objective, however, is not hostage recovery or disarmament; it’s territorial conquest masked in theatrics, propaganda clips, and manufactured crises.
Far-right ministers have even circulated AI-generated propaganda showing a “reimagined” Gaza rebuilt after the so-called voluntary emigration of Palestinians, an effort widely condemned as a digital smokescreen for mass displacement and cultural erasure. These visuals reflect a growing campaign to whitewash ethnic cleansing through technology and narrative control.
The IDF Pushes Back As Resistance Grinds Israel’s War Machine:
Even as Netanyahu attempts to orchestrate optics for global consumption, his own military commanders are pushing back. IDF Chief of Staff Eyal Zamir and senior officers have warned that an expanded ground invasion could kill remaining Israeli hostages and entangle the IDF in an unwinnable urban war against a decentralised, tunnel-based resistance.
Despite the near-total destruction of Gaza’s civilian infrastructure, Palestinian fighters continue to conduct ambushes, destroy tanks, and hold strategic ground. They have adapted into a durable insurgency, armed not just with weapons but with the legitimacy of defending a people being starved, displaced, and erased in full view of the world.
One former Shin Bet officer bluntly told Haaretz: “We’ve turned Gaza into a graveyard, and somehow the resistance is still alive. That should terrify us.”
Trump’s Dual Game: Feed Gaza, Fund Israel:
U.S. President Donald Trump, unwilling to confront Netanyahu directly, has said Israel’s decision to occupy Gaza “is pretty much up to them.” But his administration has shifted strategy toward an aid-focused narrative, trying to mitigate global outrage over mass starvation.
Trump announced the creation of U.S.-backed “food centres” in Gaza, then walked it back by reaffirming support for GHF. U.S. Special Envoy Steve Witkoff and Ambassador Mike Huckabee visited GHF sites, praising the aid mechanism amid reports of chaos and shootings.
Analysts say this dual track, supporting Israeli control while appearing to deliver aid, is designed to disguise complicity in a starvation strategy. Axios reported the Trump administration believes Israel has mishandled the aid response, but has yet to articulate an alternative.
Arab states, coerced into pledging financial and logistical support, are trapped in the same theatre, funding a mechanism that prioritises Israeli political optics over Palestinian survival.
International Isolation And The Threat Of Recognition:
With ceasefire talks stalled, Netanyahu’s annexation threat is viewed globally as a deliberate provocation, a warning to Europe not to recognise Palestinian statehood. Yet, this strategy may backfire.
France, the UK, and Canada have already hinted at unilateral recognition of Palestine, and the Arab League has endorsed transferring governance of Gaza to the Palestinian Authority, an idea Israel continues to reject.
Meanwhile, the International Criminal Court is pursuing investigations into Israeli war crimes. Satellite images confirm widespread urban annihilation, particularly in Khan Younis, where Israeli bombardments have left little more than scorched concrete.
Senior Hamas official Osama Hamdan warned that the United States and its allies are enabling genocide. “Netanyahu’s regime is using starvation and extermination to achieve political goals. The world must intervene before it is too late.”
Theatrics, Psyops, And The Real War On Palestinians:
What is unfolding is not simply a military conflict; it is a psychological and political war designed to obscure Israel’s intentions: to reassert dominance over all Palestinian land, erase resistance through starvation, and manipulate public perception with AI clips, media spin, and war-room theatrics.
Even if the full occupation of Gaza is not immediately implemented, the trajectory is unmistakable. Netanyahu is using threats of escalation not to rescue hostages, but to coerce political outcomes, sabotage international diplomacy, and normalise the permanent dispossession, mass displacement, and erasure of Palestinians.
As food becomes a weapon, aid a performance, and sovereignty a bargaining chip, the world must decide: will it continue to watch this horror unfold, or will it confront the truth, that Israel’s war is not just against Hamas, but against the very idea of a free Palestine?
In Summary: Genocide In Real Time, Occupation By Design.
What we are witnessing in Gaza is not merely a war; it is a calculated, multi-front campaign of extermination, mass displacement, and permanent erasure. The Netanyahu government’s talk of “defeating Hamas” is a smokescreen for a deeper, more sinister objective: the absolute occupation and ethnic cleansing of the Palestinian people, executed through siege warfare, manufactured famine, psychological manipulation, and high-tech propaganda.
This is a genocide unfolding in real time, wrapped in humanitarian rhetoric, staged media spectacles, and diplomatic deflection. Israel’s use of AI-generated reconstruction clips, orchestrated aid distribution “events,” and photo ops with foreign envoys is not incompetence; it is a deliberate psy-op strategy to obscure war crimes and normalise a colonial reality.
Meanwhile, international actors, from the Trump administration to European governments and Arab regimes, are not just passive observers. Through aid conditionality, arms transfers, and silence, they are active enablers of a starvation-based war strategy that violates every tenet of international law.
The illusion that this war is about security or hostages has collapsed. What remains is the raw architecture of conquest: siege as policy, hunger as a weapon, displacement as a strategy, and occupation as endgame.
Unless there is immediate, coordinated international intervention, not merely for a ceasefire but for justice, accountability, and the unconditional end of Israeli impunity, Palestine will not just be occupied. It will be emptied. And the world will bear witness not only to genocide, but to its normalisation.
This is not a moment for neutrality. It is a moment for naming the crime, confronting the collusion, and standing with a people resisting annihilation with nothing but their dignity, history, and right to exist.
